120 Gallon Patio Build

Post by onesquin » September 18th, 2012, 5:15 pm

I bought three tanks to start making a few patio models. Here is the design I am thinking about. Cut the tank about 2/3rds and drop it down for the firebox. The chamber and firebox will be side open. The chamber will have 2 removable, sliding grates. Put this thing on pneumatic wheels and rubber coated casters with a shelf in front and bam, backyard braggin rights!!!

I like it. That looks to be a great size for a family Q.
It will definetly be a head turner on the patio.

BBQ is just smoke and beers!
Usually more beers than smoke.

I think it should work good. Go ahead and get it built and delivered. The first couple times I use it, I should be able to give you some feedback. Thanks in advance.

I like it!
I would prolly cut off the endbell for the FB so you could make a flat round door and use it for a fire ring/ cowboy cooker.

I thought the first one was $5 and the 2nd one was free if you just pay the 1300 S&H on each ... man I got ripped off $5! :homer:

If it can't be smoked .... try frying it. It that don't work, it's probably best just left alone

It's done. Started last Sunday and got it done tonight. Everything went well except the dampers. Was going to go with two round spin out dampers but I didn't have the patience to make them work. Went to rectangular and laid the hole out wrong and panicked and it looks like hammered shit but is functional. The bottom rack is 2 x 2 ft. Enjoy.

I think you did great. I never seem to make anything in a week. I started making a log splitter last week, it will probibly be another month before I'm done. Looking at these smaller units make me want one. :LG:

would appreciate an update on how the smoker works. I have two takes with the same dimension and may use the same design.

Also what was the wall thickness on your tank?
