Ah good, glad I had the right idea. Just done some pit calc checking.
I have put a estimated intake size as 12x2inches (its going to be a 6x2 slot on each side). its saying intake count 1.22 - is that just a funny way of saying the intakes are too small? Im assuming I need to tweak to get that number 1 or less.... If its less, im guessing that will just mean the fire might be a bit too enthusiastic when the dampers are all the way open, correct?
I think that's bad.
It means you need 1.22 of the grate you have.
You need to enlarge them slightly and you'll be fine.

My firebox is nearly the same as yours. My opening for the vent is 3x 10 inches on each side and with my ash pan 1" off the bottom of the FB, the vent on each side is 1" above the top of the ash pan and about 3 inches above the bottom of the FB
Make no mistake, there ain't no powder in this Puff ! And... I'm not really a crazy person but I play one in real life
