Position of the tank

Post by BBsSmokeShack » April 11th, 2014, 1:42 pm

Ok guys what is the best way to position the tank (250 gallon propane). I see pictures of people with the rings up so the tank is in it's normal upright position. What do yo do to fill in the holes for the valves? I was thinking about grinding them smooth welding a plate over top then grinding it as smooth as possible but I want the thing to look good too and I'm afraid that will be gaudy. Anybody got any pictures?

I would roll it to have the repairs on the lower back side or bottom, if you want the lifting rings just move them to what will become the top.

Thanks guys. Grind down the holes and weld a plate over the top of them?

I cut out around them and welded a piece in place...like a patch. I hate grinding.

Bstory, nice work. That rigging looks risky though, what is that a key ring and dog chain? Lol

No lol. it's from my powerlifting days. They are safety straps and caught 600# when I got too far forward on a squat session and I know they would hold more. That 600# was bouncing after it came off my shoulders at standing height. Not worried about a little ole piece of tank.
