Time to burn some wire again

Post by slowboat76 » January 8th, 2016, 12:18 pm

Hey guys hope all is well. I have been away for a bit after building my RF last spring. Finally got all the bugs worked out of it, but I find myself firing up the Traeger just because it is so consistant and easy. I have got the hankering to burn some wire and been looking for some ideas, and was leaning towars a "Mack" inspired build, but after looking at some of the Gravity feeds I may just build one of them. I have PMed Frank for some plans and I know he is busy, but thats good as I havent decided exactly which one it is yet. I am thinking a gravity with a PID controller and fan or an insulated firebox Mack on wheels. Its usually just my wife and 2 young children, but we do try to "cook up" on Sunday to make weekday meals better, we tend to smoke a bit at a time. Well anyway give me some ideas, or a cussing and we will go from there. Looking forward to get back at it.

Good to see you're back! You know you can order the plans direct, from www.smokerplans.net right?

The "small" gravity feed is a popular choice these days. The Mack will cook for a good size group. So does that help?

I also thought about a gravity but I think I will end up building a Mack

Thanks for the welcome backs. Tom I was wavering for a bit but have made my mind up that I am going vertical. I know Frank has been super busy but I have been calling for a couple days, although I may be using the wrong prompts with the way his new system is set up, but we will cross paths soon. lol I have been calling with a couple questions about does the plans come with a cut sheet and if he has the CAD cut files by any chance? I am not sure, although I may ask some the the other guys that had their metal cut by a CNC if they wouldn't mind sharing the files after I get the plans. Anyway I will be watching back and forth trying to get all the pointers and help I can get.
