My first build. 80 gallon with propane

Post by Tower870 » December 17th, 2016, 6:53 pm

Just started my first reverse flow 80 gallon and planning on using propane with chips in the FB. Haven't seen much on wood and propane.

I upload my pics to imgur.com and then use the [ img ] tag with url address from imgur. Might be a pain in the butt to do from the phone.

I use an I phone and just post straight to the site. Main thing is don't allow it to be bigger than 640 in either direction.
This is what we were doing today.

You want to copy the "direct link" from imgur, the url will end with .jpg in this case. You will type [ img ] http://i.imgur.com/RRBeRH9.jpg [ /img ] (without the spaces inbetween the brackets in the [ img ] tags... like this Image

If you're in the "full editor" there is a button in the editor's toolbar that will add the [ img ] tags to your post, you just have to past the url address between the tags.

You are going to have to watch this design like a hawk. I would recommend an automatic safety shut-off for the propane as a back up - or it might 'splode' if you don't notice a flameout. :exp:

Here's the link of my vertical gasser build. I would suggest adding an opening under the burner so if the flame goes out the propane has a way to get out. If mine is running on a low flame setting just closing the door too fast can blow it out.

Gizmo. Are you talking a ball valve or a in line timer style? Pete very nice build. I was thinking that. Im thinking a 2" hole in the bottom should be plenty???

I've only built the one char-griller conversion to propane and it made me nervous after it went out a couple times - I just know Frank has the info/parts available somewheres around here that will kill the propane feed if the pilot goes out.... I'm betting RC knows where it is.... it might be a sticky? :D
