I cut a c clamp and used it to seal the cc door.

Not on a smoker but we do that at work to push plates down to tack them, only problem I've encountered is when use use a cast type clamp the weld eventually cracks and they snap off.

That could be a problem. I didn't have enough room to put the smoker clamps on. My table was in the way.

I would try to straighten the door first. Then I would use toggle clamps.

Rodcrafter, I got it as close as I could with the chain and Jack. But I don't have enough clearance for the toggle clamps,( I bought some) the hit my table under the lid.

I used this type when I don't have much space.

Just change the bolt out for a carriage bolt so the rubber doesn't melt.
