What do you think?

Post by Rodcrafter » July 12th, 2017, 7:44 am

I wonder what kind of smoker I can make out of this 7,000# boiler. I got it for "free" so you know I must do something with it right?

Indeed, look forward to following the build. Depending on how large the internals are I suppose. At the shape of it, how about a very large gravity feed beast. I think you are going to have to strip away all the peripherals and see what you have and make a decision then. There you go RC... have at it.

I was thinking of cutting it in half and making 2 Mack smokers. I think it might just work. Oh my wife would probably want to kill me too. But hey just doing the work might do that.

Awesome score RC, I know whatever you do with it will be magic. :kewl:

I'd leave some of the extra stuff on, it already looks like it has a flux capacitor on the front, lol =))

RC, whatever it turns out to be you have your work cut out for you! Whatever you make I know it will be good. Hope it don't turn out to be a galvanized tank!

I see you have a good eye for a really cool smoker. I think the steel is a little too thick for that as the heat source though. I know you may think is he slipping? Too thin? [emoji23]

Wow, that's an awesome idea, a chain driven rotisserie that goes in an oval! That would be awesome to watch the trays going up & down, you'd have to make double glazed oven style doors. :kewl:

Definitely chain driven rotisserie, it even has the shape of an Ole Hickory. Simple charcoal tray at the bottom and let it turn until perfect

Google "Hurst Boiler diagram" if you want to see a cut away of the internals.

You would know more about that than me. But it seems like it has gas and Diesel. I would like to see about the chain rotisserie, I'm not sure how the shelves attached to the chain.
