Archuleta family reunion smoker

Post by bstory » March 26th, 2018, 9:40 pm

Building this for the reunioin.
Obviously this is a Mack smoker. I bought the plans with the CNC file and my buddy cut them out for me on his plasma table. This is amazingly easy. Hope you guys enjoy.

It is 48x24 horizontal and 48x24 vertical. The FB will be 21x22 or something like that. It will be insulated so what you see is the outside of the FB and the WC.

Mighty fine smoker right there. I have got to get started on mine. That smoker will become part of your family and cook for many generations to come.

Everyone is watching this thread. The cry for these plans have been out there for a while. It’s like dynamite a small package with a huge capacity.

I am excited to finally get to build this one. I was about to start it anyway when the plans came out. That CNC file is awesome having everything pre cut.

Archuleta family reunion smoker

Post by bstory » March 30th, 2018, 5:12 pm

I did want to mention I don’t know if there was a mistake by my buddy when he cut the back plate to the FB/WC, but there was a discrepancy from what I had to what the plans say. The plans say there is 7” from the top of the bottom of the baffle plate to the top of the bottom plate of the CC and 14.5” from the bottom plate to the bottom of the FB. This was not so on mine. So I split the difference, it was only like 1” if that. I can’t really see what it will affect.

Let me suggest DON’T CHANGE SOMETHING AS CRITICAL AS THROAT PLACEMENT WITH OUT CHECKING WITH FRANK OR TOM.

Let's have a phone conversation next week so I can make sure that it's not an error in the CNC file. The CNC file is the exact same as the page in the plans so they should be identical

Are you planning on trailer mounting this or put it on a stand?

I didn’t change the throat. I moved the cooker up the fire box 1/2” marking a 1” damn at the bottom of the throat instead of 1&1/2 inch. If that makes sense

My throat has not changed. I am sorry I may have confused everyone rather than informing. I don’t think it is critical at all.

Hahaha... I'm still gathering materials...and trying to make space in the shed for the build. It is good to see someone off to a good start with the build and it is looking great. Glad it is coming together real easy. I'll be following the rest of this build very closely.

Indeed they will do. If you are worried about the edges, run a flap disk over them to smooth them out. And once you slap a coat or two of paint on nobody will even notice.
