LEGACY 4800 REVERSE FLOW SMOKER

Post by Barrion2018 » November 17th, 2022, 6:31 pm

Have any of you built Frank's LEGACY 4800 REVERSE FLOW SMOKER?

If so, can you give me a little insight?

I have a set of the plans, just haven't started on it yet. I hope to start on it this fall or winter.

I already have all the smokers I'll ever need, but this one looks like a fun build and it would make a great addition to my collection.

I've built one. Great size pit for backyard use but still has plenty of room for groups. Good plans, easy to follow.

What specific questions do you have?

You pretty much answered everything when you said, ”Good plans, easy to follow.”

I guess my most specific question is, is the warming box just that, or can you hang and smoke sausage or ham in it?

I put in a warming box and added in dampers to feed it from both the firebox and the cook chamber. With this set-up I can pretty much set it for any temp I need and either the same or different from the main cooking chamber. I have smoked in it a few times but mainly use it for a warming box or to bake beans or corn sides. To be honest, the main chamber cooks better and provides more than enough space for 99% of my needs.
