my first UDS smoker

Post by Fedostas » September 13th, 2019, 12:57 pm

Hello from Russia! I on forum recently and decided to build a small UDS smoker. In as a corps I used propane cylinder capacity of 50 liters. Its walls have a thickness of 4 mm.The pipe is used with a diameter of 108mm, at the bottom there is a coal basket and at the top there is a chamber for the product. The product is planned to be smoked in suspension. To prevent the burning of fat between the firebox and the Smoking chamber is a flat plate with sand. The project is not over yet - as we move I will add photos. Best wishes!

That's an awesome looking unit you have there. Interesting to see how it all looks inside. Well done indeed! How did you do the stencelling on the flat bar?

Hello again - thanks for the high ratings of my smoker ! I will try to answer Your questions. I didn't make a pattern on flat panels - they can be bought ready with different drawings . Dimensions 2000mm x 20mm x 4mm . In the Upper part for fixing the product I welded three steel rods-they are Y-shaped hooks attached to the product. To accommodate the coals made basket - as a drawer Desk .In order that the fat would not burn falling on the coals-made "sandpit" - pallet with sand - it can be seen in the photo. The pallet has cutouts on the edges - for the passage of hot gases from the coals into the Smoking chamber. At the moment, I'm almost finished creating-is baking heat-resistant paint... In the evening I will conduct practical tests-to smoke chicken : -). Best wishes!

Hello - forgot to tell you about the launch of the smoker...As you can see in the photo at the bottom of the welded V-shaped part. For a convenient start, I pour alcohol into this part , set fire to it, and set the coal basket in place. After 10-15 minutes the smoker is already working!

I LIKE IT!

You may want to consider removing the sand. The drippings from the meat will flash off some when it hits the metal and flavor the meat.
