drum deheader

Post by smokeyjoe » December 12th, 2011, 4:34 pm

I'm about to start on another UDS and wanted to know if you guys have used one of these deheaders and how well they work. The one I'm looking at is this one..............
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss? ... m+deheader
but I'm open to suggestions. I've never used one of these and wanted to know if it's a waste of money. Thanks guys.

Wow for that money buy clamp ring barrels. Here in VT 50 bucks plus shipping is 8/10 barrels.

also called open head drums. there are 2 grades of these open head drums. they are "Small Bolt" and "Big Bolt" the bolt size is significant to the steel thickness of the drum. small bolt is thinner gauge steel. those are the ones I usually get. thicker gauge is more $$$

Personally I would go for the grind the edge method. I love the results and its not to hard to do after you do it once.

I would post a link of a few pics I posted but I am getting tierd. And. I know frank has a mental book mark of where its at. LOL Did ya eat tonight Frank?
If you dont find it I will look for it tomorrow and post it.

Yeah I ground the top off my first one. I'm just looking for a more airtight fit. Probably a waste of money anyway.

Cant eat doritos with salsa, good hot stuff.

As for grinding the lid, I ground the outside edge. Its a tight enough fit, I almost need lubrication!!!!!! Theres always time for lubrication!!!!
