:yth:

Good looking smoker.
Are those intake valves PVC?
Let me know how they handle the heat?
If they hold up, I might use them on mine.
Much less expensive than a ball valve of the same diameter.

Yer gonna like what we've been smokin'.

Actually they don't see very much heat at all, they don't even get warm to the touch. Mine are on 24" risers so they are closest to the heat and they stay cool. I think, (someone correct me if I am wrong) PVC sch40 is good until about 140 degrees. I doubt they were seeing anywhere near that. Just my $.02 at $3 each versus $15 for a brass valve, i will just replace them as needed. lol

I like the idea...just keep in mind that the sun and weather will take a toll on pvc. We have to paint all our above ground pool piping and valves or they won’t last longer than a year or two before they get brittle and crack.

That makes perfect sense to me. I have access to industrial sewing machines and Sunbrella material so I am going to make custom covers for both my UDS and my reverse flow. They will also be kept in one of my garages when not in use so I hope they will last a while.. But, again for $3.?? a piece as long as they work i am happy :)

Im curious to see how they work.

My experience with pvc valves hasn't been terrific, even under ideal conditions. I used them in my house when I 1st plumbed it in and when I needed to use them they were so stiff the handles would break. I ended up replacing them all. $3 might sound cheap now but it may not if they act up when you've got $50 of meat in it and you have trouble dialing it in.
