RCDS: Birth of a concept...

Post by Kansafornian » July 9th, 2012, 1:59 pm

Friends, SmokerBuilders, Countrymen, lend me your ears (and eyes…) You'll of course
recognize my RCDS design:

Image

___________________________________________________________________________________

Well, "Also sprach Zarathustra: Ein UDS fur Alle und Keinen." Or, in this case,
"An RCDS for all and for none". Below are some images of the current RCDS build
state.

Firstly, some full frontal nudit… er, Imagry:

Image

Appointments! Appointments! Lots of high-set appointments.

___________________________________________________________________________________

Secondly some birdbrain graphics:

Image

"Rock Chalk Jayhawk, KU…" (Yes, its a bit haunting in person as well 8-X)

___________________________________________________________________________________

Thirdly, handles? We don't need no stinking handles! Or, perhaps we do…

Image

Welded rebar handles. Dang near N-D-structable.

___________________________________________________________________________________

Fourthly, my 8" SS-Pipe (Just say'n):

Image

Need I say more?

___________________________________________________________________________________

Fifthly, a couple ball valve intakes…

Image

Note: I added the extra brass and coupling to fit the "U"s tighter; and for looks ;-) The
intake arms won't move under any circumstance(s). They're solid and - I hope - airtight.

___________________________________________________________________________________

Lastly, my pre, during, and post smoke primary re-hydration access point:

Image

Remember the Smokers' slogan: "Beer: Its just not for breakfast anymore."

___________________________________________________________________________________

As you can see there are a few missing items: Therms, SS Hooks, Internals, Bottle-cap
catcher, etc…

She's close, but not yet ready for a test drive.

Note: Thx to Rob for his assistance in making the RCDS as reality.

Man that thing is SHARP!
It would only look better with a Tiger in place of that magpie! =)) =))
AIF!

BBQ is just smoke and beers!
Usually more beers than smoke.

Thanks all! Was planning to take her out for a test smoke this evening - wearing the requisite red velvet and black lapeled Hugh Hefner-esque dinner jacket (mit pipe) and waxing poetic about the finer qualities of brisket and dry rubs - but went salmon fishing today instead. (See, coming soon to a site near you, the thread: "If I can't smoke in public, why can my salmon?").

I intend to affix the RCDS's trolly this weekend. More to follow and thx again.

Man thats a straight up good looking build. :kewl:
:LG:

If it can't be smoked .... try frying it. It that don't work, it's probably best just left alone
