Boneheaded noob mistake

Post by nnbbq » June 17th, 2013, 4:35 pm

In all the research I did before and during the build of my UDS, I never saw the part that said to put it up on bricks or something if cooking on grass.
So I left a small alien crop circle looking burn in the grass of the park we were at last weekend.
On the other hand, it worked great! Held at 275°until I ran out of charcoal which was my fault for not filling it up to start with. But then all I had planned to cook on it was a pork loin as a test run but it did so well that I ended up doing baked potatoes and roasting ears on it too.

Kind of like BBQ graffiti, you might start a trend with the younger generation of smokers :kewl:

Char-Roy was here :explode2:

If it can't be smoked .... try frying it. It that don't work, it's probably best just left alone

Chalk it up as a lesson learned. Can't do everything right all the time.

At least you figured that out before putting it on a wood deck like my neighbor did.

Holy cow, that is crazy about the deck. If it were me, I would leave the burn mark and call it ART.

The ring is still there, this is the same guy that broke his leg in multiple places after falling off a ladder when he cut the branch off on the WRONG side!!!! I kid you not!

You should follow him around with a video camera - you could prolly finance your next cooker project. :D

And on the eighth day God created barbecue …. because he DOES love us and he wants us to be happy. :D
