So after years of using my UDS for cooking meats around the 225-300 range. I decided to see if I could add an additional Intake to keep my temps near the 400-450 mark for cooking chicken. Here In the western Virginia area we no do chicken on a cider block pit ,24" from the coals and takes around 3 hrs to cook.
You can imagine what the temps that close !
My original design had two 1-1/4" Conduit pipe stubbed in near bottom at the 8 and 4 o'clock position.
I added a 3" at the 12 o'clock, Man what a difference. The drum easily reached 425-450 with all dampers open.
