No there filled with what looks like dry wall. That's why there heat rating is only for a pre determent time. After that I guess that stuff just breaks down. For this build all of that was removed and I used rock wool insulation.

As much as I wanna say I would have kept it as a safe. It's actually a pretty decent idea. I love the looks.
