Size of tubing for stand

Post by jb4e » September 28th, 2018, 12:49 pm

Hi! I'm new here and was very excited to find such a cool community. I'm about to begin an offset build using an old 155 gallon propane tank. I'm in the planning process now, and am trying to figure out what size tubing I need for the stand. In terms of design, I'm building a small Franklin style cooker and am shooting for something like this: Image.

I'd like to use 2" square tubing because I like the aesthetics, but I'm unsure what thickness I need. I am estimating the weight of everything, excluding the stand, to be around 750 pounds. Can anyone give me guidance on what gauge tubing I should use for the stand?

Thanks,
Jacob

With 2 inch tube I would use 0.065 as any thicker is overkill.

Welcome to the group and please share your build as it progresses.

I’m guessing that is only included included in the ‘delux model’

=)) =))

1/8” tubing should be good if you use 2”. I used 3” tubing, 1/8” on the 150 gallon I’m almost finished with (another thread here in standard offsets).
