Yup. Fit up is a bear. Especially after welding out all those inside corners on the front of your FB. Looks like you nailed it. Looks great.
I like welding the outside corner welds (not that I’m very good at them yet, lol). I just dial my volts and wire feed speed back a bit and take my time. Slight forward then pause to let the puddle fill up the joint then forward again. If you can adjust inductance up to 75% or so I find that helps to keep the spatter down if I’m using less heat than optimal for the metal thickness.

All corners closed up, door and ash tray cut out.
Welded the door edges on.
Not to proud of how the door looks but I’ll have to settle with the result[emoji13]

Since today it has wheels! Perfect weight balance. Once I put the stack on it’ll be heavier so won’t tip over as easy.

Pretty cool.

The small legs at the FB side will come off once the stack is on.

Wheels where fun to build.

Thanks, the neighbour helping me had a great idea for the wheels.
He had brass bearings and he gave me brass nipples to install so we could fill the axis with grease[emoji1377][emoji56]
Rolls like a charm.

I used steel wheels on my first. I switched them out, however, bc the customer thought they were so difficult to get rolling well on any rough surface. I really like the look, just gave up for the convenience of the buyer.

What are you doing to keep the air vent from getting blocked from ash?

Mmm…..during a cook you mean?
Do you expect issues?

Could ofcourse Empty the ash tray.
I didn’t think it would be an issue during a cook.
Hope I didn’t miss judge that….

Worst case, you could pop a vent through at the bottom of your door.

Try it out a few times and see how much ash accumulates. My pan gets pretty full in a 12 hour cook.

Okay, emtpy the tray once every 12 hours sounds reasonable[emoji56]

I have the idea from one of the threads here with a little sliding door with a chain. Looked nice. I can always add that if this doesn’t work well enough.

Yes, during a cook. I would expect you to have ash dropping and block the air vent. Other problem is potential for hot ash to fall out and start a grass fire. See if it is a problem but possibly a narrow strip of steel across your ash tray might be a quick and easy solution to keep the ash back and still allow airflow.

That stack! Haven’t seen one the had such a long horizontal run like that but it looks cool. Especially with the taper.
I can’t really tell for sure but are the legs bent inwards a bit?
Nice work.

The stack was build using a bent peace to optimize the airflow, the 90 degres piece makes it horizontal, didn’t see that coming but will pull the hotspot back away from the grate I suppose [emoji56]

The legs are inward a bit, not sure what you mean, but the other picture had a better angle maybe so you can see it better!

I agree on the hotspot. There’s a builder here in the states Moberg Smokers that does something similar. Not quite as long but a wider pipe that constricts down like you have.
On the legs, the front legs don’t look 100% straight up and down. They look like they tilt towards the fire box at the bottom just a bit. That may just be the angle of the picture.

Now for the grates, wood board in front, log grate in bottom and grill on FB, then I think I’m done[emoji848]
