That's a pipe with a round bar inside. Tightens up the wobble a bit, and looks cool at the same time. I did The Cadillac like that. 1/2 inch schedule 80 pipe, 1/2 inch round bar.

That thing is a work of art. What finish is that? My current tank is butt ugly but still a work in progress

Thank! That's why I named it The Cadillac. It's just boiled linseed oil.

I used roxul because of the price but either one will work fine. You can get 1'' ceramic that is rated the same or higher than the roxul and then you can build your outer box smaller and save some steel.

Hello, what is an appropriate size for a ball drain? I am looking at a 3" and found a brass low pressure ball valve for 76 bucks and a 3" pipe for 11 bucks.

What size ball valve would be appropriate for 250gallon smoker? I have read that going too small can cause it to clog up.

3” is huge! Most smokers run 3/4”-1”. For a 250gal I would prob put (2) 1” drains on each side

No problem with going big is that is what you found but 2" seems to be the standard.

Lowes has the 2" ball valves on clearance for 21 bucks. (normally 90) so if you need one, thats a great deal

I also picked up this because it was on sale. They were also out of the roxul 80 stuff Will this work or should I return it?
