best place to mount the smoker on a trailer

Post by Chico71 » September 9th, 2022, 11:40 am

Im currently looking at 6x10 tandem trailer for my 500 gallon offset and my question is, where would be the best place to mount it and whats the best to way to mount it? I was thinking to one side but do not want the weight to be a factor when towing. The floor is diamond plate so I would assume that i need to get through that and get to the frame. Any thoughts?

Yes...mount to the frame.

Decide if you want to step onto the trailer to cook or want it to be ground accessible as both have advantages. It's hard to cut up new trailer but remember you can cut the floor/notch the crossmembers to drop the firebox thru so you can adjust the height and foe/aft location. With weight on one side, you may need to change the springs out to balance the trailer but remember some weight will be on the other side with coolers, wood, tables, etc.
