Help with heavy cook chamber door

250gl tank one door I'm in need of a counterweight or something cable with cement blocks on other side. Old garage spring something. ...
Please post some picks of your way to help with heavy door. . Dzar knows I've got no problem with the door. Everyone else does that helps me on my cooks . PS it did not help I built it to my height and my cooking pal is a little vertically challenged. At 5'7" .... I'm 6'4"

The math said my doors weighed 80 lbs apiece.
Counterweights are a function of arm length and mass beyond the hinge. Hope this helps,

I built mine just like the ones above. I filled the cross tube with steel rods until I got it where it felt right and then welded the rods in place and welded the end cap on it.

Don't forget to weld the rods in place otherwise everyone will know when you open or close your door...

The question I would have is; how much room do you have between your top most shelf and the top of the cooker?
If you're only running one shelf you should have the room for something like this.
It still works like a champ even after several years of cooking.

Interesting hinge that. Is it from a vehicle? And how does it hold up to the heat? Just thinking the spring might become tempered and less... well springy.

They are hood springs from a lot of older chevy/gmc trucks, and they haven't lost any spring in the 2 years we've been using them.
I can't imagine with temps under 350 it's effecting the the composition of the steel coil.
