Adding Drain Pipes

Post by cyberstrategist » August 10th, 2016, 9:29 am

I wanted to get some ideas on how you have implemented drains on your smokers. Right now, I just have a couple holes on the underside of the horizontal section (24" pipe about 5 feet long) that has a vertial box on the opposite the firebox. The problem is that I need to put pans down to catch the drippings or they end up all over the grass or concrete. How have you implemented your drains to help to control this?

I put one of these on the bottom of the CC and put a ball valve in it

I just put a 2 inch pipe on my baffle plate. I cook with it closed and then open it up after the cook, using a 6 inch putty knife to swish the drippings into the hole towards a waiting bucket.
