:LG:

Really looking the goods now. Serious bit of counterweight there. The whole build is looking really neat and professional.

Can't wait to see q-view from this puppy.

Thanks ajfoxy! For anyone curious the counterweight is comprised of a 2"x2"X1/4" square tube cut 12" long with a 35 degree cut at one end. The top is 4"x4"x3/8" square tube cut at 24" filled with 3 - 23" lengths of 2"X1" solid bar. She means BUSINESS!!

If you can cook on it half as good as you built it, they'll be standing in line to get food !

Don't forget the lifting lugs so the crane can load it on the low boy to transport it home, ha!

Very impressive, you should be proud

Hahaha... yep you'll need some muscle to lift that bad boy.

Otherwise it looks grand. A coat of paint and then what everyone has been eagerly waiting for... Q-View... :D

Just a small update but progress is progress! Got the Cook Chamber grates fabbed up and installed. All that's left is to install the thermometers, fab up the damper on the exhaust, then it's off to paint!Image

Tomorrow will be my final day of fabrication for my first Smoker Build! All that's left is to fab up the adjustment arm on the damper for the exhaust. Today I welded in some threaded couplings for the thermometers, added some weather protecting "eyebrows" above the therms, made some utility hooks and last but not least, a cup holder for my beers! Can't wait to fire this bad boy up! ImageImageImageImage

Last details added today and now fabrication is COMPLETE! I used the spring handles from some old chipping hammers for the latch on the firebox door and the exhaust damper. One last look before she heads off to paint! ImageImageImage
