Feldon calculator

Post by 2big2fast » June 18th, 2017, 1:16 pm

Saw this build on FB today . Guy said he had done exact build before and Firebox was beg enough.
Feldon's has it at 43% .
My question- does the firebox requirement hit a threshold after a certain size ( on the larger end )
Measurements for pit in the pic are :
46" diameter , 17 feet long
Firebox - 36 inch diameter, 48 inch long

I don't know what makes the calculator tic but I know what it is like to have a undersized FB. It is very hard to get enough heat. The wood has to be just right for it to run. And forget about getting over 300

:yth: I've seen a few extremely large pits like this and they always had a raging fire in the FB. I'm not sure how well you could control the temperature.

Measure Twice.....Cut Three Times.
