High temp paint

Post by Newsmoke » April 17th, 2020, 1:47 am

What kind of paint do you use? Any brand in particular? Do you get spray cans or spray paint? After paintings do you apply a layer of varnish?

If I'm on the wrong section don't hesitate to let me know.

I use Rustoleum high temp paint in a rattle can, some guys use the same but in HVLP spray gun. I don't use any varnish after it's painted.

Ditto on the Rustoleum high temp , only in Satin black though.
Brush on or I like to use a mini foam roller.

I personally heat up areas with a large propane torch and finish the linseed oil. If its needs it again in a few years, its super easy to 'touch up'

Do you use black paint only or is another color available? I have a drum I'd like to make into a smoker that is red and could use some paint

Rustoleum high temp is stated to be good up to 1200 degrees Fahrenheit. According to their website, it is available in black, silver, almond, green and white.

Remember that the current coating on the drum will fail at a different temp and painting over it will not change the temp that the original coating will fail.
