I think I'll paint this one black.

And here it is with two cans of Krylon High Heat spray paint on it.

Fine looking. Paint it? You’ve been watching Moberg smokers too much. You gonna put an automotive finish on there?

Btw, how did you strip it? So far I’ve tried a stripping wheel on the angle, paint stripper, fire, and a small gravity sand blaster. Fire was the easiest and most effective but I get a lot of hard looks from the neighbors.

Big fire and a big wire wheel. My neighbors don't care. Or they don't say anything or give me dirty looks, anyway. He does a lot of smoking, too.
I'm just gonna brush on some Rustoleum.

Looks great! I'm still flopping around on what to do with my final paint/no paint/ sandblast and oxidize (uniform rust look).

Thanks!! The next one, the one with the star on top, is gonna get baked with a big fire, and then wire wheel the varnish off, and clear coat.

The red was cool, but I dig the all black. Any bites on it yet?

Lots of tire kickers. I wanted to see if the red was scaring people off. :D

how much are you asking if you don't mind my asking? Trying to gauge where I should be selling now that I've moved my "floor models."

I had it with the red legs at $1250, but after putting the new wheels on and painting, I raised it to $1,400. I don't know what people expect to pay for one of these, but $1250 seems pretty reasonable. Similar ones at Gator Pits are like $3000.
I'm thinking I might try loading them up, and see if they would sell at a BBQ cookoff.

Great idea. Sold the 100 gallon for 1400 and the 60 gallon for 1000. Both guys thought they were getting a steal. Not many builders up here so I’m thinking I’m under pricing.

Finally got this old thing sold off. Final price, $1250. That's it, I'm done building smokers to try and sell, people just don't want to pay anything.

All loaded up and ready to go.

It's a tough market for sure, I think most builders are pre-selling their cookers. I'm glad you were finally able to find a buyer.

Congrats Boomer. Seems like you have to be all over IG posting like crazy or doing YouTube videos. I don’t have the time for that plus job plus building plus family. Have to quit my job to do it. Glad you sold it though.

That's what I thought! Those big smoker manufacturing guys sure do charge a hell of a lot more. But, if you make it any higher, it just sits and sits forever. I don't know, maybe a guy needs to come up with a better marketing campaign, or just be satisfied with less, but it sure is a lot of work building them.
I just had one idiot offer me $100 for the new Santa Maria I just put up for sale. It's got more than that in it, just in steel and paint. Not to mention the electricity for the welder, the gas and wire, and all the time spent putting it all together. Some people are just plain stupid.
