Have a laugh on me

Post by Weldun » August 18th, 2017, 9:43 pm

I thought it would be fun to share some pics of my first attempt at building a smoker years ago

My idea was th build a charcoal/wood burning smoker, note the small fire box

Temperature was controlled by a damper system

I eventually converted to propane but I couldn't keep wood chips from burning up, I then installed a smoke chamber with fan to overcome burner back pressure and force smoke into cook chamber, I'll have to admit as frustrating as this thing was it provided me as well as others a lot of entertainment, my neighbor once said I looked like the wizard of oz behind the curtain when I operated it.

It looks like you put a lot of thought in to it so nobody can say that you wasn't trying.

Whatever else, it has a "cool factor" of ten. You could just park that with the other smokers and everyone would gravitate towards it out of curiosity.

Learning generally boils down to "Repetition or the avoidance of pain", some people learn by doing, some by watching and some just have to pee on the electric fence.

Whether you think that you can, or that you can't, you are usually right. Henry Ford

Really nice work and original design. I never saw anything like it. It would be a hit at a car show for sure. Nice stainless steel pigtail thing with the fan :)
