Red Ash?

Post by ThinBlue » March 3rd, 2022, 10:15 am

I picked up some logs from a guy who had cut down an unwanted ash tree a couple weeks back and I went out to start chopping it up the other day and noticed that several of the logs had turned red. I had never seen this before. Does anyone have a guess as to what is going on here?

Possibly a chemical reaction from the saw blade or axe, or the oil used on the saw blade?

I know oak turns black when subjected to steel filings, as my chopping stump will testify from when I was outdoor grinding too close to it. ;)

You can never have too many hammers.
