Sawtooth cutting

I’ve seen just a couple pics of a sawtooth intake on fireboxes, and I think that may work best for mine.

What’s the easiest way to cut the notches that are rounded if I don’t have a plasma cutter? Do you guys that do this just use a grinder? Thanks

Not sure how it should be done, but if I were doing it without a plasma cutter I'd drill a hole at the peaks and valleys of the saw tooth and use an angle grinder and slimmy disk to cut between. Then maybe tart it up with a file etc.

Not saying it can’t be done but I would find a friend with plasma or I’d change the design. Cutting a radius with a grinder is not something I would do when there are other options out there.

I was thinking that the drilled holes on both ends of the notches would take care of the rounded parts of the notch/tooth, and all that would be left to cut with the grinder would be straight cuts to remove the metal between the drilled holes. nobody I know has a plasma, i'll buy one some day. I've already cut the opening for the intake so am going to proceed the best I can.

Got it notched and installed, and it works great. I just drilled a hole every inch in the middle of the flat bar that would be used to lift the opening cover plate, and then cut the remaining metal with a grinder. Smoothed them out with a Dremel. not perfect saw teeth, but they hold and now I have an adjustable vent that's centered, and at fully open it's a bit larger than recommended calculator size.
