Why hasn’t anybody complained about how fast these things get heavy?🙄
Haha, Puff built a big GF a few years ago and he must've said it about a thousand times.
hahahaha I was gonna say the same thing!!!

I seem to recall that everybody has a hoist, forklift or tractor at their disposal so weight isn’t a factor.

Everyone, except me, that is!
haha you'd think! actually the Harbor Freight gantry does a nice job. the double pan is a bit much for it but it does a great job

Not much done except the front panel installed with the recess for my controller. Spent most of my time grinding down welds. I will say I’m glad I didn’t make the door since some where things got out of square. Not bad but enough that I had to make the door a little out so it didn’t over lap the recess.

Finally got some time to get some work done on the smoker since I finished the Santa Maria grill. I cut out part of the inner frame and added a recess with some pig tails to keep the meat/temp probe cables out of the way. I also got the main door tacked up with recesses for the thermometers. I didn’t like how far out they stuck out when mocking them up. I couldn’t find anyone local with a metal lathe to turn down the inside of the pipe so I used my dremel with a metal bit and depth base to carve out what I needed.

I added 6 inches all the way across and draws just fine. I am finally finishing mine up after a year and a half and had to take the outer cover steel side off of the chimney side to put in more insulation as it was too hot to touch. Now only the tube frame for the box remains hot. Will post the good, bad and ugly soon since it is by no means perfect but was alot of fun to build.
