Still burning this morning. Only concern at this point is that ash build up between the transfer tube and the FB. Might have to make a mod to the grate so that can fall down into the ash pan.

Make a sliding pan or 2 that you can grab and swap out and toss the ash when it's cool.

I made an ash pan for my mini and it makes ash clean up a breeze. I think some of your ash build up in the transfer tube may be due to your grate bar width where it butts up against your opening into the transfer tube, it creates a shelf for the ash to pile up on and spill into the transfer tube which in effect reduces the amount of heat going into the transfer tube. Try sliding your grate all the way in and then pull it back about 3/4" and by doing so you'll create a gap for the ash to fall through rather than piling up on the front bar and spilling into your transfer tube. If this solves your problem then you could simply install some stops or add some spacers to the leading edge of your grate so you'll always have the right amount of gap when inserting your grate. Just a thought!

I like the ash pan. Will definitely be adding that. So here is the progress so far. We didn't read the directions so we are a few steps out of sync but nothing a welder, plasma, and determination couldn't fix. Also threw in a shot of my new shop light over the table. Couple more long days and she will be ready for some paint and a test run. I'm shooting for Superbowl Sunday at this point.

I did. Just cut the roxul and stuffed it in. Not super compact but should work good.

If I had to guess its north of 250 at this point. Andrew was flipping it and turning it by himself on the table, but it took both of us to get it to the floor. Definitely at that stage where if it falls on you it breaks you.

I laid mine on it's back. I welded some chain to an 8-10" angle iron, dropped it through the chimney and used an engine hoist to lay it over.

I used 4 pipe clamps on my double pan. My door was around 200 pounds and was a pain in the back, literally.

I got the bottom welded on and the legs cut. Gonna get the legs welded on tomorrow.
