Gravity Feed #5

Post by h2orescuemedic » December 31st, 2018, 5:36 pm

A few months ago I was board and I thought I needed a new project for next year, so what could I build that would be cool as hell to have? Well after a phone call to Frank at Smokerbuilder I placed an order for a Gravity Feed kit. After setting up a date and time for pickup, I am the new owner of a gravity feed kit.

Now if I could just find the time to turn my box full of parts into a usable smoker Life will be so much better.
The reason this is called Gravity Feed #5 is for 2 reasons. One Frank told me this is kit number 5 and when I got home with this giant box in the bed of my truck my wife asked just how many smokers do I need. After using my fingers trying to counting them all this will make number 5. First she stated I have a problem then told me I should sell the ones I don't use. I don't think I have a problem or I should sell one of them.

However, Looking at the calender I am hopping in about 2 to 3 weeks to start building this Smoker and getting it in sevice for cooking.

In the voice of forest gump - That's a big box. I wish I had a box like that.

Yeah we need step by step pictures. No detail is too small not to be photographed and uploaded. Pretend your building a guide to how to cure all cancers.

You should call the smoker “Johnny” after that really bad 80’s movie (short circuit, right?) with the military robot that came to life. Johnny, number 5!

Can’t believe you haven’t started it yet. I would have had it open before the tie straps were off!

Any movie with Ally Sheedy in it was worth a sequel and I would watch them with no shame at all! :-)

That's funny about the johnny 5. I swear That's what i said to Frank when he told me it was number 5.

Anyway sitting at work counting how many sick days i have on the books. And trying to justify using 2 of them to build a smoker. I believe i have a sickness. What do i tell the boss my chief complaint is when i call into work.

I would complain of ‘flu like symptoms’. Specifically, sore muscles (from lifting and welding and sitting on the cold garage floor), upset stomach (from the beverages that go along with shop time and maybe a little junk food and wings) and a headache (those darn adult beverages).

I’d vouch for any of those.

You could tell the boss you have "separation anxiety" from being away from your smoker build.

First no more talk of calling in sick. I am getting over the sickest I have been in a long time. I almost had to call in sick to work, that would have been the first time in 8 years. SO NO MORE ABOUT BEING SICK..... LIVED IT AND IT SUCKED. moving on

Made a little room in the shop for the smoker, and started putting it togeather. I only have a few hours in it and most of that was cleaning up and getting started on the new build. So far so good.

I didn't take the last picture after I fully welded it out but its all welded.

Next step is pull the screws and weld shut the screw holes. That will be easy.
Next free day is monday. I am hoping to hit it hard monday morning.
