If you lay a piece of wood on the transfer tube , will it smolder or ignite ?

If it's tourist season, how come I can't shoot 'em?

I'm hoping smolder, maybe based on how close to the FB. Curious.

I would wrap it in tin foil and poke holes in it. That way its likelihood of catching flame would be super low.

On my list of things to try. Also going to try a pellet tube under the transfer.

I find putting a piece in the ash pan gives me good smoke. I also sprinkle in a few charcoal size chunks in the charcoal chut for really long cooks. I have not tried it but I bet I could start with charcoal and fill the chute with wood and it would burn just fine. I did put a very large chunk on top of my charcoal just to mess around and it burnt it just fine.

Thanks! Hoping someone with a GF would give it a try.
