Santa Maria Grill Plans

Post by bjustison » January 23rd, 2020, 8:48 am

Now that I have finished my Mini GF, I want to build a Santa Maria style grill. I could not be any happier with the plans, support, and the smoker. Has anyone purchased and built a SM Grill using the plans from Smokerplans.net? I searched the forums and could not find a lot of info. Any pictures, reviews, do's and don'ts would be appreciated before I purchase the plans. Thank you.

I’m pretty sure Frank sells the working parts of the grill as well. Should make it a bit easier as you don’t need to engineer something for the lift and then try to find parts.

To answer your question, I recall someone doing one a few years back from the plans and had no complaints.

Following on from this do you know if all the plans come with a BOM? Not after a cut list file but just a general material list for pricing? @FrankCox

Most/all do not. You typically need to get the plans and calculate what all you will need to complete it. This is pretty easy with the tubing but can be tricky when it comes to nesting the sheet metal parts in order to minimize waste.

Well the steel and stainless have arrived but I'm now laid up with a chest infection.
Will post pics as the build progresses
