Got it almost finished yesterday, but today the rain and cold winds are here so no pics yet. During the summer we get most of the wind from the south (the pic was taken facing south). I have actually used the smoker there many times before and no soot yet. My thoughts are the smoke rises and the winds should pull a bit of draft over the roof line and exhaust the smoke. I might have to do a little tweaking on it but i think it will work.

Here are pics as it sits now. Still have to finish the panel under the grill shelves. The right side will have a tip out trash can and the left will have a hinged door with some shelves for storage. I hate to have wasted space and my earlier idea of having the panels attach to the grill were not going to work.

Since those pics were take the snow has melted and I mounted a sliding bolt latch to the door. I also tee'd the gas line with ball valve shut-offs and their own regulators. I have to reroute the gas line to the grill but thats not a big deal. I'm nixing the sink idea in favor of a sillcock faucet that will exit the front side of the left post. I will run pvc to a garden hose so I can disconnect and drain it for winter. I'm also going to install a shelf for my thermometer. Maybe if the weather cooperates this weekend I will get some work done. I can't wait to fire up the new grill or smoke some meat again. My freezer is filling up with pork. On a side note score some awesome wright's thick sliced hickory smoked bacon on saturday. Local Food Giant ran a mystery sale on certain items. 3 lb for $9.99 no limit. Bought 3 packages. Had bacon and eggs sunday for breakfast and bacon sandwiches for lunch. 1 pound down, 8 to go.

LOL. Thanks dcman. I'm 99% done with it. I just have to remount a shelf. I tried to mount it on the side of the smoker but wifey said no it doesn't look good so I have to move it to the back wall. All its for is my maverick to sit on and maybe a cold beverage or 2. Here are the pics.

I added some lighting for the after dark cooking.

I still need to remove the shelf and make a new one and some other little finishing touches (they take the longest don't they?) It is very functional and makes some tasty eats.

Have you ever needed something and just could not find what you wanted for some reason or the other? So you decide, "what the heck I'll just build it." That happened to us a few weekends ago with some new deck furniture. We shopped everywhere we could think of for new deck furniture. I wanted something that used folding lawn chairs so we could use them on the deck or around the fire pit or anywhere else they were needed. Besides our old lawn chairs were falling apart and old. Wife kinda agreed with the old and falling apart aspect of my argument. She wanted the sling chairs, but didn't want them to blow away. She and the kids measured the deck one day and started sketching and brainstorming. With the help of pintrest she came up with a plan. We should just build some benches and mount them to the deck. I started planning and came up with a design we both liked. We went to get some lumber and we started building. Here is what we ended up with.

The planter stands were going to have a shallow bottom for her to plant flowers in. That idea changed after the need for an armrest/drink holding surface became apparent. They now have 2x10's covering them and she will have potted plants on top. And I couldn't leave the steps into the house out. I originally made them from scraps when the deck was built and they were not holding up well. These are much more sturdy and have a bigger top step for a rug to wipe dirty feet.
