Gravity fed smoker question.

Post by Wicked Smoke BBQ » July 29th, 2013, 4:17 pm

Can anyone tell me if the plans for the gravity feed include fully insulated measurements? What's needed for the insulation, etc? I was going RF but I think I'm going to switch to the gravity feed.

PM Frank for the dimension question. I haven't looked at the plan, so i have no clue.
Usually 1" of insulation is sufficient. I can't think of the brand right now, but it comes in rigid sheets, kinda like ceiling tiles, only it's high temp insulation..

BBQ is just smoke and beers!
Usually more beers than smoke.

You'll never regret the GF - I love mine. It is 2" insulated and most folks are using Roxul for insulation. Frank would know which type of Roxul for sure.

I was thinking about the 2" myself. I was trying to see if it was included in the plans for the smoker.

Is Roxul available as rigid sheets though? They only told me about the bag of 3-1/2 inch batts when I bought mine. :-B

Roxul Is available in rigid sheets in many thicknesses, this is what I used in my clone build. 2x4 sheets and I believe a bundle was 5 pcs.

That's right ken. Also the plans show the frame dimensions. Just cut the insulation. to fit. Usually less than2 bundles is enough. I use RHT80 but you can get 60

Looking over the plans for the gravity fed smoker. Does anyone happen to have a materials list? I tried figuring things up off the blueprints but I'm lost.

3 days and I finally got a materials list together lol. I'm swapping out the diamond plate for 1/4" steel covering.
