1/4" or 1/8"

I'm about to start building a smoker and needed some flat plate...is 1/8 substantial enough or should I just be safe and go with 1/4" plate

I would never use less than 1/4" personally.

BBQ is just smoke and beers!
Usually more beers than smoke.
