trailer Rebuild

Post by TuscaloosaQ » February 1st, 2013, 8:46 pm

A gentleman had a trailer he wanted me to revamp it was a mess. He wanted a direct cook cooker no firebox the challenge for me was deciding how to leave both endbells on and make it look like a craftsman did the job. Is there any other way???
This is what I started with. the cooker on the trailer came off and he sold it to someonbe else. The trailer was not built well out of angel which is a cuss word to me

Decided to make a neat little access

I tack the strap and roll around tank for my radius

I cut doors out and tack doors back in with little fat tacks then weld my bottom and tom straps completely

cut a c clap and make a fitting tool been doing it for years works great

Finished product

So I'm just sitting in my easy chair last night watching TV and minding my own business then it pops in my head...

I'm sure I'm too late cause the customer has already picked up this rig and I know this is just a fanciful idea but it would sure look cool to put a 1/2" - 13 expanded steel collar on about 1 inch standoffs around that stack so it straddles the hinge bearing (same width) for the stack cap - kind of like a heat guard on a semi. Sand and clearcoat only so it would show up against the black stack behind it.... just bolt it on after painting ... maybe next project....

I don't know why I thought of that but it just jumped out at me.... I'll go sit in the corner now.... :D

That does sound like a neat idea Rick. TQ nice job I'm sure I'm going to borrow the stack idea one of these days, NICE!

I couldn't see in the pictures, does it have air inlets on both ends?

I like it, Looks fantastic sitting there waiting to go home.

And I see that you are the only one to date to use the half c clamp welded to the tank.

Just love that one,

I have several custom built that I use on the bench. That is when I can see it.

Rick I like your idea alot :ymapplause: :ymapplause: Rod crafter it only has intakes on one end I will talk to the guy and see how it performs tomorrow. I have picked up three more builds with some more potentials. A website is in the beginning stages. That half c clamp Tom has saved my bottom end many many times.

jethro's dad told me about that one a long time ago. Said they would fix water towers that way. Said it was to much trouble to wrap a strap all the way around to hold a patch plate in place.
