Trailer awnings....

Post by motoridr09 » May 14th, 2015, 10:12 am

If I can get my other trailer to sell I'm considering putting an awning on my next one. How does a trailer with an awning pull down the highway? It looks like a huge wind drag. I was just wanting to know what you guys that have one think about them.

Also when you guys want to sell a smoker how do you go about it? Just craigslist?

It really would depend on your trailer design but yes they can act as a big wind brake.

Why don't you consider an RV retractable awning?

Are the awnings worth the extra time and money?

I plan on using my tailgating tent. It just sounds easier.

I just finished putting mine on my trailer rig. When folded down it covers the sides of the trailer, when up it gives me 17'x14' of cover from rain or sun. I can serve on the back side and cook under the operator side.

I have got to do some more details and some more paint. But this should give you an understanding of what I did on mine and I really like it.

I'll get a couple with it opened up. I just got the roofing sheets on before I left for vacation.

RC, that might be the thinnest metal I've ever seen you use. For they life of me I can't figure out why you didn't use 1/4" plate on the top and sides. LOL

Have you pulled that anywhere after adding it?

I have only with the frame. This weekend I'll be going to Daytona with it. I don't expect any trouble unless it would be cross winds. But my smoker is pretty heavy, so I will let you know.
