I myself would go with the 210 it is not overkill and you want regret it. The extra volts and amps/duty cycle will come in handy later, I'm sure!!!! I have been welding over thirty years and the next mig I buy ( have the lincon 210 and135 migs) lincon SA 200 pipeliner and the 300amp miller pipeline pro.) The next mig I buy will be blue (miller) hands down the best out there!!!!!!!!!!!
The little 187 is one of the most awesome running machines out there, it simply runs a fantastic bead. If your in the market to spend just a little more money then check out the mig caddy c200i from esab, easier to more around then a 30 pack with the punch of a keg.
I have a miller 211 autoset and love it, but the next one will be the caddy c200i
Man TQ, ever time you post I see yet another reason for you to have the u suck award.
I wanted to buy the passport plus but just could not part with that much cash.
I'd love to get a Miller but since my background of tools where mainly for auto , im trying to consider getting as many needed tools as possible for the $$$ i'll be forking out. I've read a lot on the 187 & 210 rigs & both fit my budget & application. The Esab is a great rig Smoker Tom because of its portability but it looks like the 210 packs a better punch plus duty cycle for nearly the same $$$ & I don't for see me toting my mig around that often. (Bad past experience).lol. Im just not sure. I've even looked @ northern industrials hybrid 200 & before you guys laugh, that little thing has good reveiws on the welding web & the consumeables are interchangeable with a lincoln. Im just not too sold on Chinese rigs but by it being a arc & mig with the decent duty cycle & reveiw its kinda tempting. Did I mention it comes with a spool gun ? Lol.I gave it a thought but I believe I wana stick to a major brand rig. Check it out though & give me your thought s.
I can say that I have been there done that with the off brand stuff.
Not that its all bad, because its not. BUT, I can also say that I have had ZERO problems with my miller. I have heard no bad things about hobart. Only great things about the 187.
Once I get a new lead and torch on my miller it will be good for a while. Had to make a few mods to the torch end to be able to weld up exhaust to pass inspection. What a good reason for a torch upgrade.
I find that since I do not actually have a shop, ( I have a storage for my tools.) I end up with the mig on the cart not able to get close enough to do the job and I drag out the stick leads. This is where the esab would help me alot. Or maybe the 252 that my dad has can come live at my house.
Yeah Tom your 100% right about not being able to get close enough. I dont have a shop either. Only a 2 car garage. I just cant see myself about $300 closer to a plasma cutter just for the size of a smaller machine for now im gonna have to deal with the size so I can equip myself with other tools. I think the Hobart 210 will be my best options for now unless I find a good deal on a Miller 211
Dangit boy!!!!!!!!!!!!! that esab caddy is a bad looking joker, Iam going to tell Tyler to come off of that money he has andbuy us one. We do have a suitcase mig that I can plug the 300amp pipe pro to and use but man i like the looks of the caddy. Tom I must say i love that miller 252 and 211, that being said the hobart is a great machine also. I just want something new and it is prolly going to be blue!!!!!!!!
I do know a guy that might be willing to part with his Lincoln 255c.....
Just sayin....
actually it is me.....
and It is a great machine......
really you should think about it......
cus I would like to sell it.......
cus I have another one I want to buy......
Im sure we all wish we had tool stash cash so the wife wouldn't harp on us lol. That 255c would be a great machine for time to come. Im still working in garage & getting 220v outlet & junk out the way.
You ain't kidding...once you burn through, watch out. It's pretty easy to get carried away fixing a small whole and you end up with a dime size screw up!
From what i can see it has lift arc with a foot peddle, a DC only machine so no tig aluminum. Thermal arc makes some very high quality stuff, there plas machine's are top notch. Millers dynasty machine has high freq AC but no mig capability. One of the best was the miller shopmaster, it did it all. It was too good they stopped making it.
Me andTyler just ordered the millermatic 252 last week, thre days latyer i canceled the order why???? Cause it did not come in when they said it would!!!! I am really funny about if you tell me something i expect it. and Plus I did not like their attitude about it. I e mailed the manager of the store, want say what I said but he said take your business elsewhere and that is exactly what i am doing. I was thinking about giving them all our business which amounts to several hundred dollars a month But>>>>> It aint gonna happen one question why in the Sam Hill can you not get good service anymore I mean anywhere??? Well Frank is hopefully gonna hook me up with tha man this week I am gonna buy one 1 way or another
We have the lincoln power mig 215, the lincoln 135mig the lincoln sa 200 the thermal dynamics cutmaster 252 and recently got the 300amp miller pipe pro with the extreme 12vs wire feeder suitcase welder. The lincoln power mig 215 has a spool gun for alumnimum welding. Frank I would prolly consider the unit you were refering to but it does not have the high frequency. I am going to get one for the pipe pro that way i can field weld alumnimum via heli-arc
ya know, I shoulda read the specs
I been talking to the rep guys and I was under the understanding it was high freq.
I do have a miller maxstar150sth dc tig/stick and a LTEC 250HF PLUS heliarc so the tig prolly wouldn't be of much use for me on that rig. I may do some more diggin. I am glad you guy's pointed that out!!!
And tell us that the star ship enterprise had a new plasma welder for sale online only , shipping is high since it had to travel light years to get here.
Magic welder ...... never runs out of wire or gas.
Hey Tom: The star ship enterprise had a new plasma welder for sale online only , shipping is high since it had to travel light years to get here.....happy now?
If you can't fix it by sheer force or cursing......then it can't be fixed.....
