Well I can assure you if I am gonna be welding any it would be heli-arc or mig I am setup to do both processes Mig is a little less forgiven as far as the metal needing to be clean. Welding alumnium with helic - produces a beautiful weld but it must be very clean. If welding thicker metal switch to helium or 75% argon 25% helium and it will make a huge difference the weld puddle will be more fluid and take less amps with the helium. That being said i too have seen the farm expo trick and saw a guy fill a hole in a coke can.... but I assure i aint getting no torch out on a customers product. So I would say mig or heli-arc all the wayRick wrote:Next time you're at a farm expo show look up the guy selling that "special" rod that does this. I'm pretty sure what you are doing with it is closer to soldering - very different penetration/strength level ...
TQ what do you think?
