Hobart 210MPV MIG Welder Opinions

Post by Smoking50 » April 19th, 2013, 11:50 am

Opinions are Needed and Experience Appreciated

A Hobart Handler 210MPV Wire Feed MIG Welder Brand new in the box for $450.00 is it a good deal ? How does the welder weld will it handle Smoker builds, wired for 240 volts with out getting hot and thermal overloading and shutting down?
And last but not least what does the duty cycle represent in real life 30% @ 150 amps would this be like 18 minutes of constant welding on 150 amps and it resting and cooling 70% of the time? ( LMAO sounds like the last guy that worked for me)
I am looking to buy a Mig Welder, but I want a welder that will do what I want when I want without having to wait on it? New or used it doesn't matter, as long as it is American Made with the exception of Lincoln. (No Lincolns)
Oh! by the way I also do Farm Tractor and equipment Restoration and will need it for welding the sheet metal also, hood and fenders.
Thanks

The duty of a welder is unfortunately exactly what you are thinking 100% is the only way to go if you plan on using it a lot and never want to wait on it. I would go at least 60% which means in a 10 min period of time you can weld for 6min before the welder needs 4mins rest. Hobart is a gd machine I have never used that model but have use plenty of their other welders and was very happy with the performance. ..........my 2cents hope it helps

Its done well not well done

60%= Welding 6 minutes continuously out of 10 .. That would be a good little machine

Both responses are appreciated. Thanks Guys I have made the decision to buy an ESAB Caddy C200i only because it will be $75.00 less than a Miller Matic 211 to my door.
Thanks

A welder you may look into is the Miller 211, I have one and very happy with it. I recomended it to a few people and everyone that has bought one is as impressed as I'am. It will weld 110 or 220 and all you need to do is change the end on the plug and weld. But it will run you a little more money. But it's a quality machine.

I ordered a Miller 211 from Scott Gross the price was ok but it was out of stock!! Communication sucks from this company...left hanging for days without an explanation as to what is going on. Just shipped today after a threat to cancel the order.

That sucks having to wait like that, but I'm sure you will be happy with the 211. One thing I have noticed mine is easy on consumables.
