Using kitchen cabinet handles?

Post by rikun » April 11th, 2014, 9:02 am

Hi,

I just had a thought, could one use Ikea stainless steel kitchen cabinet handles for smoker handles? They look pretty slick and cost a dime.

Although the gap is kinda small, probably couldn't open it with thick gloves. Also, I'm wondering how much heat would travel to the handle...

And they don't look manly at all ;)

In my opinion you have a valid point about the gloves, I also think they won't be heavy-duty enough.

I would go with something wood vs metal. Nothing worst than having someone grab a hot handle.

Definitely not heavy duty enough! Besides that, most hardware pulls like that are plated brass. I'm using a stainless steel grab bar for a side handle but an 18"er costs ~$20.

I used a indoor brushed stainless handle on a shed door a few yrs back. Within 1 month it was glazed with rust and fell apart in about 2 more years....FYI
