If I could pick one up for at or around 600 bucks I might try it. I just can't see spending much over that. I have heard guys talk very highly of these machines but I have also heard just as many guys talk them down as well. Now from what I hear and read, these machines are all the same just with different packaging for the tins. You may get a good one and ya may not. On the Hobart welding site, there is a guy there that makes (Gongs) He used a chicom plasma cutter and had nothing but good things to say about it.

But like I said, I would be temped to pick one up if the price was right.

I know I'm a little late on this topic but Everlast welding products has a do it all machine for right around that price. They'll even barter with you. I have used they're equipment before and for the price, they are great. My next welder is going to be an Everlast stick/tig combo.$275 It's an inverter machine. 110 or 220 volts. 1/8" 7018 welds like a dream.
