New Ellis bandsaw

Post by Dirtytires » February 19th, 2018, 6:39 pm

So, got my call back from Ellis this afternoon and ended up pulling the trigger on a new 1600 bandsaw, screw vise, stock stand and extra blade. Only downside is they are backordered and I’m not going to get it in my hands for about 5 weeks. Guess that gives me time to decide what to cut up first!

For anyone interested, I purchased direct from Ellis as they were willing to change out the standard cam lock vise with an upgraded screw vise and were still less expensive than the “discount resellers.” I was also extremely impressed with the service and it appears they will stand behind their products if ever needed.

I’ll report back when I get it and give a rundown on setup and performance.

All I got now is a receipt...bet nobody wants to see that!

Truth be told, I’ve been on here a while and still don’t know how to post a picture. Guess I’ll have to look up the tutorial and learn.

All right...I figured the receipt was lame but I did find this little instructional video they sent me. And...I figured out how to post a picture.

This boys superhighway is more like a 2 rut cow path.

I’ll just put duct tape over my screen to cover up any duplicate posts.

Got a spot all cleaned up and ready for it.

Supposed to be here today but the truck somehow got re-routed to Texas. Kinda out of the way and even the dispatcher was confused. Should be here Wednesday they say.

The delay is probably good as I spent the morning in the ER getting my finger stitched up after it had a disagreement with my favorite chef knife. I was working on testing a pork belly that has been in a bacon-cure and was going to fry up a slice to test it before firing up the smoker. Kinda put a halt to today’s smoking plans but I’ll fire it up in the morning as I don’t want to risk loosing the bacon.

Sorry bout your finger. Those damned truck drivers are always getting lost. LOL. After I retired from the Marines I started a trucking company and got lost several times to go see my future wife.
I totally understand both sides of that fence. Waiting on a shipment and going out of route for some tail. I’m happily married for 18 years and retired again

Got a call from the receiving dock and ran down to get it.

First impression was that it was extremely well crated and the shipping company was careful with it as no damage or rips in the plastic.

After getting it home, I got the crate broke down and unwrapped. Once on the ground, it was jut a few bolts to finish the assembly. However, working with only one hand, took me forever to get that much done so ran out of time. Plugged it in and turned it on but the full set up and test will have to wait a few days.
