What about this mig welder ok

Hi I’m about to start my mini gf. I’ve learnt to stick weld when I built an offset smoker. I want to learn to use a mig welder and came across this Miller MIG Welder Millermatic 211amp 240v. Will this be good enough to use. I’ve never used a mig welder before. It’s 5 years old but hardly used. It’s listed starting at £400/$522. What’s max you would pay for this machine.

This what he has to say about it.

“In good working order, had very little use in the 5 years i have owned it.

Comes with the spool of wire fitted and an additional brand new spool from SIF

It has all leads but no plug fitted. I have had it running off a 13amp 3 pin household plug, but it would be better with a 16amp socket.

Also have a few consumables to throw in with it.”

Are you set up to run 220v? Tho it will run off 110 you will find this to be a big restriction in welding capacities. My point is just remember that getting a new outlet installed is an added (but necessary) expense. Some run them off the cloths dryer outlet but a 220v/30amp extension cord is stupid expensive and a dedicated outlet is just safer.

I’m not familiar with that machine but miller tends to make a good product. I would say if it’s lightly used and works well you would have very little risk.

I live in the UK and everything runs off 220v in our houses. Only 110v is used on construction sites and such. Thanks for the quick reply. I can’t seem to find any manuals on this mig
