Help identify this wood type

I picked a load of free wood up today. The guys said Oak, Avocado, and Orange tree.

Can someone tell me what is what and if it is what he said it is. Thanks again

Doesn't look like any oak I've seen. Couldn't tell us about the others.

It's said to be red oak. I am in Cali

I know live oak and mesquite by heart.

Your bottom picture is most likely a red oak species, but the other two I wouldn't know if they hit me. The "eyes" on the outside of the oak log is from wood rays, and is pretty much a dead give away for red oak. If I had to guess I would say the Orange colored wood is orange, and the whitish wood is probably avacado, but those two are a total guess.

When in doubt you can use them....Could try cooking just chicken it's cheap enough that she ruined the meat you're not out a whole bunch of money...

I would suspect any of them should be fine, safety wise. Oak is good, and I have a coworker who's uncle lives in Florida and smokes with citrus grove trimmings. He claims it gives an orangey flavor

I just scored a chunk of mulberry that is bright yellow/orange. Smell is sweet and pretty strong. Pretty good air freshener for the truck right now, anxious to smoke with it.

As an AMATEUR wood worker...I had gotten hold of a piece of yellow satinwood. Once I had ZERO thoughts about woods being possibly problematic. I have no idea what made me decide to read about this or maybe it was fate but an article showed up in a magazine in the bathroom that detailed the near killer effect of the dust of this wood and its smoke from a dull saw blade.

I don't like experimenting blindly anymore.
