It's a couple bucks higher but I've been real impressed with Kingsford "Hickory". :D

I've had be best luck with Royal Oak lump along with a little of the Kingsford blue. I've tried Cowboy a couple of times but get too many sparkles.

Just tossing in my 2 cents. I start with half a bag of Kingsford laid out over my base logs. Fill the chimney to overflowing and fire that up. When I toss in the lit chimney I add whatever was left in the bag over the lit coals and add my other logs to get things going. I cook solely with wood after that but I have taken to keeping some homemade lump handy in case I miss judge the fire and things get too cool. That lump will revive my coal bed quicker than anything short of a can of diesel fuel, and the diesel just doesn't go with brisket.

If it can't be smoked .... try frying it. It that don't work, it's probably best just left alone

I've heard about that European charcoal too. Isn't it called the Frankknowsaguy brand?

I'm going to drop the knowledge on you guys here. There are only three brands of charcoal.

Ozark Oak
B&B
Wicked Good.

That is all.
