120 Gal propane valve removal

Post by MikeInMiami » February 16th, 2013, 11:53 am

Happy Saturday to all!
I should be finished with burning off all the propane that was left in the tank today. Next step is to remove the valves. This is a 120 gal horizontal tank. Should i keep the weed burner that I used to burn off the fuel connected and open so I know that there is no pressure in the tank? Or is there anouther way of removing the valves? It seems simple but I would rather ask....
Thanks

Once the flame is dead you should be able to unthread a valve or something on top and then fill up with water.....

biggest thing to remember about burning off a propane tank is if there is frost on the tank there is still liquid propane in it. even if there is no pressure coming out of the tank. the level of the frost IS the level of the liquid. best thing to do is to shut off the burner and wait for the frost to completely melt. then start the burner again.

Being in Miami I don't think weather should be a factor for that but who knows eh?

If you can't fix it by sheer force or cursing......then it can't be fixed.....

Got it cut!! No boom.... BUT the one thing that I made sure of and I hope everyone else is aware of is using a GFI. That was my main concern .
