BBQ with Wine

Post by Gizmo » December 8th, 2011, 1:08 pm

You know that saying "Idle hands..." well last week I had a turkey in the freezer that needed cooked and edna's cousin had some free time last Saturday. I told him about an idea I had been toying with from some sauce experimenting I had done so I sent him home with the bird and a bottle of Beringer's White Zinfandel ($5/bottle at Walmart). He injected about 2 cups into the bird (prolly drank the rest) and I went over and helped him sample it. Now this is the 2nd time he's slow cooked something in his newly converted Weber Platinum / EasySmoke homemade bullet conversion - Sheeeze! - remarkable results - delicious! Course he has a gift for cooking whole birds that doesn't hurt anything either.

Birds aren't that easy to inject so we're gonna work on a brine version too that might apply the flavor better. Just thought someone out there might also like cooking with wine and actually getting some in the food - :-)

Next time I'll do some pics ... :noqview: sorry...

And on the eighth day God created barbecue …. because he DOES love us and he wants us to be happy. :D

sounds great! I have not tried anything like that before. I dont know the effect that wine would have in a brine. it will most likely be fine tho.
